Description

The Addington Golf Club is a world-class golf course - a hidden gem just 13 miles from the centre of London. The course was designed by John Frederick Abercromby in 1912, and is a unique heathland course with some truly memorable holes. The golf course is ranked in Golf World's Top 100 Courses in Great Britain and Ireland.

The Addington challenges golfers of all abilities. Running to 6,284 yards off the White Tees, the course has deep ravines, tight fairways meandering through stands of pine and birch, and immaculate greens. With each hole being unique, golfers will need every shot in the bag to navigate their way round this hilly course. The heart of the course begins at the Par 4 6th, made famous by the writings of PG Wodehouse who penned: "anyone wishing to write to the author should address all correspondence to: PG Wodehouse, c/o the 6th bunker, The Addington Golf Club, Croydon, Surrey". The acclaimed golfing writer and former member, Henry Longhurst, described the par 3 13th thus: "with the exception of the fifth at Pine Valley, near Philadelphia, the greatest one-shot hole in inland golf".

The Clubhouse provides a comfortable and relaxed "19th hole" with it's Spike Bar and Patio area.

The PGA professionals in the Pro Shop at The Addington offer a full custom fit service, and are happy to offer advice and assistance to ensure your make the right purchase for your needs. The Shop carries a range of golf clubs, golf bags and golf clothing, together with all other necessary golf accessories.

The Addington Golf Club is owned and managed by the Altonwood Golf Group, who also own and operate Westerham, Woldingham, Surrey National and Godstone Golf Clubs.

From M25 (Dartford Tunnel)
Leave M25 at Junction 4 and follow the signs to Bromley. At traffic lights just after Farnbourgh Hospital, turn left towards Croydon & West Wickham. After two sets of traffic lights and you reach the hamlet of Colney Hall: at the roundabout, turn left. Go straight across the next roundabout, and take a right turn at the next, past The Addington Pub and the church. Going uphill, the entrance to the golf club is 300 yds on the left.

From M25 (Heathrow)
Leave M25 at Junction 6, join dual carriageway A22 (signposted Croydon & London). Continue along A22 through Whyteleafe and Kenley towards Purley. Before Purley, turn sharp right at traffic lights into Downs Court Road. Continue along A2022 towards Selsdon and West Wickham, passing over roundabout (2nd exit to Addington Rd) and continue across traffic lights and through Selsdon M23.

At roundabout after BP station, take 2nd exit onto dual carriageway A2022 Kent Gate Way (signposted Orpington and West Wickham). At next roundabout, after Shell station, take the 1st exit onto Lodge Lane (signposted Addington Village). Continue right onto Addington Village Road. Turn left onto Spout Hill. Continue forward through vehicle restrictions into Shirley Church Road and arrive at The Addington Golf Club on the left.

From Central London
Take the A23 and on entering Croydon follow the signs for West Wickham, Addiscombe and Shirley. Pass the Fairfield Halls on your left; remain on the road until you come to a roundabout just after Shirley Park Golf Club on your right. At the roundabout turn right. To the next roundabout and go straight across. Take the first turning on the left, about 200 yards after the roundabout. This is Shirley Church Road. Stay on this road, straight across the two mini roundabouts and once past all the houses you will find our entrance on the right hand side.
