Description
Royal Ashdown's West Course was first constructed as a nine-hole course in 1888. Since then, the course has gone through several major developments, culminating in 2004 when it's own new clubhouse was opened and the course was reconfigured accordingly. Today the West Course is open to golfers and societies of all handicaps and three and fourballs and societies are welcome even at weekends. While the Old Course glories in it's heathland setting, the West is surrounded by lovely woodland, albeit with ample heather. A championship course in it's own right, today the challenge lies not in length, but in the demand for accuracy and course management.
The two-storey clubhouse provides all modern facilities complete with a bar and restaurant that can seat up to 60 people and is open all year round, providing food and refreshment to golfers.

Heading South on the A22 to Forest Row, approx. 3 miles south of East Grinstead, at the mini roundabout opposite the Church, turn off the A22 onto the B2110 signposted to Hartfield and Tunbridge Wells. Turn right approximately half a mile along this road into Chapel Lane, which is just after the Baptist Chapel on the right hand side. There is a brown sign opposite the junction saying Golf Course. At the top of Chapel Lane turn hairpin left having just gone over a severe sleeping policeman, into Shalesbrook Lane. Then bear right with the lane taking you across two fairways. The first car park is for the Old Course. For the West Course pass through the Old Course car park and bear right of the main Clubhouse and into the West Course car park.
